Last month, the Tribeca Film Institute had a panel of filmmakers from HBO and TFI finalists sharing their knowledge about distribution. Before you go on a film festival try to get these important files that will help get your film or media distributed to the masses.

There are certain obvious materials that are essential to releasing your film, and other not-so-obvious materials that may earn you gold stars and make your film much more attractive to potential distributors.

The list includes from the Essentials to the Delivery folder structure. Don’t miss this, get your files today!

This week’s freebie Thursday we have found Red Giant’s Colorista Free and Lut Buddy. Both plugins are really helpful for those who are color grading their piece.

Colorista Free is a small and yet powerful Three-way color correction wheel.

Magic Bullet Colorista Free is a simplified, elegant color corrector that anyone can share and use. Our popular 3-Way wheels and RGB numeric sliders give everything you need for basic color grading, and it is workflow-ready for sharing industry standard CDL data.

Lut Buddy is a very nice tool that can draw and read patterns of colors on your video or correction. You save the reading pattern and you can make all your footage look the same as the original footage. It’s amazing!

Magic Bullet LUT Buddy was designed for the professional colorist and bridges the gap from desktop applications to high end systems and hardware boxes. Use Magic Bullet LUT Buddy with host apps like After Effects and FCP to output LUTs and communicate with higher end systems ranging from DaVinci Resolve to Panasonic displays. If you’re already using 1D or 3D LUT’s in your workflow, this tool was designed for you to share values between compliant software and devices.

Both freebie Thursday works with Adobe After Effects CS3, CS4 and CS5; Adobe Premiere Pro CS5; Final Cut Pro 6 and 7; and Motion 3 and 4.

This is our new latest Freebie Thursday.  This is our shot log whenever you are shooting a short film, film or a commercial always have this form with you on set. The shot log can be made either as the shoot progresses or after the shoot finishes. If possible, it really helps to do the shot log during the shoot — it will be easier and save you time later.

There are no hard and fast rules regarding the format of the shot log.  But do remember to follow our Creative Commons Attribution rules

We’re back with a new Freebies Thursday. It’s been a while, right?

Here I have found a very nice Field of View Calculator. Compare different lens on different sensors. With this Field of View Calculator made by Abel Cine can be really helpful on making your decision with “What lens should I use on the Gh1? Or which Lens should I use on the 7D?”. There’s more cameras in their database…so do not jump on your chair and scream. This FOV calculator can give you a better idea of how your image will crop and look through it’s sensor.

Give this a try before you shot!

Today’s Freebies it’s all about sound. Sound could make your movie 50% better. By bringing your audience closer to the world your presenting them.

That is why I am presenting you FreeSound Project. Free Sound it’s under the Creative Commons properties, which makes it awesome for sharing and obtaining those sound effect you couldn’t record on the day of shoot.

It’s great for post-editing and it’s free! Use this as an advantage for you. No more Sound Effect CD’s! Just go to FreeSound; search  and download the sound effect for your movie.

This Freebies Thursday we are presenting MPEG Streamclip. What is MPEG Streamclip? MPEG Streamclip is a powerful video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many movie files, not only MPEGs; it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring.

Especially, those who does not have enough cash for a blu-ray bunner.  DVD’s are not dead!! They are quite usable actually.

Enjoy today’s Freebie Thursday.

This Freebies Thursday we are presenting you CELTX. This would be the best Freebies Thursday of all time. I have written so many screenplays in this software that it made me forget of Final Draft. Great features like

Non-Linear Project Development

which is a major thing in this software. No more index cards all over the floor.

All In One

Scriptwriting, storyboard scenes, breakdown, and finally the shooting schedule.

Everything that an independent filmmaker will need on his film ventures. The best thing about this software is…FREE!

TODAY’S FREEBIE Thursday is more for those who struggles on how to do or present a storyboard. I just downloaded these templates that are extraordinarily well done. I just had to share this with everyone.

This was made by Andrew Hake (Great guy with lots of awesome resources you have to check him out!).

Please use this with his conditions:

Log:
[feel free to use and distribute these in accordance to the CC license presented at the bottom of this site]
-2010.8.06 – Updated for 2010 and simplified
-2010.8.06 – Added .PSD templates for digital storyboarding

Like I already mentioned, there are many ways to create a storyboard. Being arguably the most important part of the film-making process I recommend doing it with some class…

If there are any issues or concerns please contact: andoruLABS.support. Also, these templates are free but feel free to donate if you find them useful.
