This is the first look on Novacut’s real time non-linear editing collaboration feature. It looks promising. Let’s see what the future will hold for Novacut.
The idea is that when you first create a slice, it doesn’t have to go anywhere yet, it can just hang out in the doodle area. Or if you want to remove a slice from the sequence, just drag it back into the doodle area… that way you can remove a slice from the sequence without loosing that slice. I really wished we could have gotten this all finished for the release because I’m so excited for people to try it. Next month!
This can bring us closer to the final product! Let’s download Novacut and help it’s developers to give as many feedback as an editor. Your opinion will shape up this non-linear software. Join their group at Vimeo Novacut Artist Diaries and be part of the development of this software.
5D Mark ii with Magic Lantern new latest update that includes Video HDR!! Dig it!
The Canon 5D mark ii is back with a vengeance! Thanks to the new Magic Lantern that not only offers manual audio monitor function, zebras, among other great professional video options. Now the new firmware offers, HDR (High Dynamic Range) video capturing more AMAZING footage thanks to this new feature.

New Update on 5D to RGB!! GH1- GH2 Friendly!
Rarevision have released a new update to the 5DtoRGB. This new update is GH1 and GH2 friendly. No more conversions without audio! You can turn your AVCHD into ProRes 444 for a more flatter and Mac friendly format. 5DtoRGB will help you get more latitude in your footage for color grading, or create smaller versions of takes for dailies after the shoot before any editing or any syncing takes place.
Also, they have added their 5DtoRGB to the Mac App Store. The only downside is the price tag. $50 is not bad for what you are getting though, and with the paid version you get a couple more features like: batch selection, add noise, among other features.
This is good news for those using DSLR’s that use the AVCHD video format. Rejoice Panasonic users now is our time!

Are We Shooting Yet is Recruiting You!?
Hello everyone,
It’s been a while since I have actually written something to you all. I am really sorry that I have not been updating this site so much. However, I am here to announce some changes I will be making with OUR blog Are We Shooting Yet? Yes, I said OUR. What do I mean by saying our blog? I want to make this site in to a community blog. This will be open to any aspiring filmmakers and of course working filmmakers around the globe. I thought about this for a long time, but I think now its time to make this happen. I came to sudden realization that I want to make this blog about us aspiring filmmakers and not about one person. Are We Shooting Yet will be a type of blog that will showcase other filmmakers work, reviews, and news.
Are We Shooting Yet will need guest writers, that can write about their filming experience in all type of roles that surrounds in a production. Also, gear reviews, digital filmmaking news, funny web comics, and of course videos.
Want to know on how to apply to be a writer on this site? Remember this a community site, there’s no type monetary compensation for now. But your work will shine in this nice white and red site and show your work around the world. Email us with the subject: Guest Writer (Title of the Post).

Working a Documentary
I’m currently writing a new script for small documentary. What is it about? I can’t tell you yet. I have been away from Are We Shooting Yet because I just received a BIG news a month ago. Is not a movie deal or I just sold my soul to Hollyweird. I am going to be a DAD! It’s huge it shocked my world at first, but now I am going to take life by it’s horn and give this a hell of a fight.
Lot’s of responsibility and probably you might ask yourself…where’s the were about of Victor? I’m back and I am ready to shoot again!

Sorry I’ve been away. Doing some test footage for my new project, I am keeping it in hush mode for now. Some exciting news coming up this week.
However, I just stumbled upon this amazing short online called SIGNS (nothing to do with the M. Night’s feature) This short is BRILLIANT!! Aspiring Filmmakers out there should take notes from this amazing short.

Check it out! This is what I have been working on…writing Spanish and English subtitles. Before, it heads off to the festivals. YAY! I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh, and another exciting news. I just got offered for a DOP position. This production will be happening around March.
I will be writing a new post this week on how to create your own rig. Without breaking your wallet. Coming up this Thursday.

7 Days to go!!
One more week! The fundraiser will be closed to anybody. However, it was not as successful as I wanted it to be. I learned a lot from this endeavor. The fundraiser was not a 100% success. Therefore, I will be making this short film with or without any backers. I can’t let this failure bring my spirit down. I will save some more money and hopefully from there I will begin my new production.
Also, my dear followers! I will be choosing the winner this week for my first give away. I will be announcing the winner on Tuesday 11. 30th. 2010 save the date. Isn’t that exciting!?

I have a short film that is 95% done. There was a lot of audio work that had to be done. Currently writing a cool post on audio work and what to do or not to do. Still waiting on Nino Leitner to get back on to the interview. Damn a lot cool things coming along the way to this blog.

Kickstarter our Venture begins
I have been polishing the final details of my latest short Johnny Apocalypse. Surely, looking forward to a private screening with friends and cast. It’s been quite a journey for me I have to say. Jumping through different editing software and finding new issues with past equipment. Man, this has not been a smooth ride at all. However, I still feel confident and I want to do small venture on using kickstarter. For those who does not know what kickstarter is all about.
Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Every month, tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, food, publishing and other creative fields.

Therefore, I decided to use this site as a tool on raising money in T-minus 39 days. We are raising these money mostly for the rental of Compact Prime Lenses. I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to use these lenses and raise some money for this occasion. I presume this would be a little easier for me on getting what I need for “The Review” Project.

All I could say about the review is that you will see a huge rant for a lovable codec. That we all should hate. DAMN YOU h.264 for being the most crappiest non-professional codec in the world. Thank you Apple for making my editing days feel like hell.
